Carmel

Just north of the Indianapolis North Side is Carmel, an innovative suburb with a growing downtown of its own. Widely known for replacing traffic lights and stop signs with roundabouts, it has made a point of creating a connected community that is more than a "bedroom suburb" of Indianapolis. Its public schools are among the highest-testing in the state while its average home resale value is also quite high.
